Booking a Sunrise Session
So, you are thinking about booking a session and want to figure out timing for you or your family.
I have photographed a lot of people under a lot of various weather conditions.
I have photographed in the rain, extreme heat, humidity, freezing cold, wind, overcast, sun, you name it.
And while I love the challenge of working in various types of natural, outdoor light, I do prefer ONE time of day for various reasons: SUNRISE.
I for one, am usually not an early riser, but for photos, it is truly the best time!
I'll share why with you!
1 – The beach and parks are empty
Most of the sessions that I photograph are at beaches and parks in the area. We are lucky to live in a state where there are a variety of backdrops and the parks give us a bunch of different settings in one area- water, trees, grass, concrete, etc. When you book a sunrise session these places are normally pretty empty and that helps to make sure that we can get the best possible locations for the photos and not have to worry about cutting anyone out or blocking out a rainbow of umbrellas on the beach!
2 – Cooler temperatures
Often times the temperature in the morning is much cooler than other parts of the day and that is really good for most people participating in photos! Who wants to worry about a sweaty face in their family photos? The cooler temperatures in the morning help to make the people in the photos more comfortable and in turn, happier!
3 – Little kids are happier in the morning
Yes, I can help get those smiles out from the little kiddos, but kids are typically happier in the mornings. They just had a good nights sleep and they are ready to take on the day! Sometimes when we do sessions with little kids in the evening they are tired and it may not show in their face, but sometimes it does in their actions and their willingness to participate! You never know what a day might bring, especially for a little one so let’s meet in the morning when they are at their best!
4 – You will have the rest of the day to yourself!
What is better than having your family photos taken AND having the entire rest of the day to spend as a family and not having to worry about getting everyone together or making sure that everything goes according to plan the rest of the day because you started early and got it done! You can start the day as a family in front of the camera and spend the rest of the day doing whatever you want-- even a nap!

For timing, you can check the sunrise calendar and choose the time when booking, view the calendar here. I will always confirm with you and if sunrise is at 6:45 am, you can select 6:30 for booking and note sunrise and we would start as soon as it rises for example.
